Quando la Rai ha annunciato pubblicamente che Lorella Cuccarini se ne sarebbe andata da La vita in diretta e che Alberto Matano sarebbe rimasto solo alle redini del programma più importante del pomeriggio i fans non l’hanno presa bene: Matano si è formato in televisione con un’impostazione molto rigida, quella tipica dei giornalisti da telegiornali. Ma dopo un anno di solitudine l’uomo ha convinto tutti: la stagione di La vita in diretta condotta da Matano come solista si è rivelata essere una miniera d’oro per la Rai. Recentemente ha parlato di lui anche Giancarlo De Andreis: “Numeri altissimi per una grande scommessa vinta da Rai1 e dall’ex direttore del Tg1” ha commentato.

Alberto Matano nell’ultimo periodo ha sorpreso i fans de La vita di diretta dimostrando di essere perfettamente in grado di mandare avanti il programma marchiato Rai anche senza l’appoggio di Lorella Cuccarini, fino a poco fa una certezza tv. Quando la Rai ha deciso di lasciare Matano da solo il pubblico italiano non si era mostrato particolarmente soddisfatto della scelta, ma con il passare del tempo Matano ha dimostrato a tutti quanti di essere capace di ottenere ascolti eccezionali anche senza una grande VIP a fargli da spalla.
