Il misterioso artista inglese Banksy ha dedicato la sua ultima opera all’omicidio di George Floyd, unendosi alla causa promossa dal movimento Black Lives Matter

Fa indubbiamente molto rumore il post che Banksy – celebre street artist britannico la cui vera identità è sconosciuta – ha da poco pubblicato sul proprio profilo Instagram. Con la sua nuova installazione, infatti, il misterioso creatore – da sempre attento alle tematiche sociali – si è unito ufficialmente alle proteste portate avanti dal movimento Black Lives Matter per il recente omicidio del quarantaseienne afroamericano George Floyd da parte di un agente della polizia di Minneapolis.

“Inizialmente ho pensato che avrei dovuto rimanere in silenzio e lasciare che a parlare fossero le persone di colore. Ma perché avrei dovuto farlo? Il problema non è loro, è mio – ha scritto l’artista, continuando – Le persone di colore vengono ignorate dal sistema. Il sistema bianco. Come una tubatura rotta che allaga l’appartamento di sotto. Questo sistema difettoso riduce in miseria la loro vita, ma non è compito loro ripararlo. Non possono perché nessuno le farà entrare nell’appartamento al piano superiore. È un problema bianco. E se i bianchi non lo riparano, qualcuno verrà di sopra e sfonderà la porta“.

Nell’ultima opera di Banksy – condivisa con oltre 9,3 milioni di seguaci – è possibile osservare il ritratto di una sagoma umana di colore nero (presumibilmente George Floyd) accanto a vari fiori (alcuni dei quali secchi) e a un cero la cui fiamma sta bruciando la bandiera a stelle e strisce. Un chiaro riferimento alla complicatissima situazione che gli Stati Uniti stanno affrontando in questo delicato periodo.

Nel frattempo, in tutto il mondo continuano a moltiplicarsi le manifestazioni a sostegno della causa promossa da Black Lives Matter, con marce di solidarietà in migliaia di grandi città, compresa Bristol, riconosciuta come la patria natale di Banksy.
