Il programma ‘Vite al Limite‘, in onda su Real Time, è uno dei preferiti dagli italiani. Nella trasmissione vengono mostrati i risultati di una vita distrutta da un cattivo rapporto con il cibo ed il proprio corpo. I protagonisti sono persone fortemente obese che arrivano a pesare oltre 200 chili e che, a causa del loro stile di vita, rischiano la morte prematura o comunque sono affetti da gravissime problematiche di salute.

Ciò che appassiona il pubblico è assistere alle loro storie, conoscere i problemi familiari o personali che portano i protagonisti a lasciarsi andare sino a quel punto. Lo staff del dottor  Younan Nowzaradan, infatti, lavora prima di tutto sulle sofferenze psicologiche dei pazienti, cercando di fare capire loro che solo attraverso un cambio radicale dal punto di vista mentale è possibile ottenere risultati anche da quello fisico. Tutti i protagonisti di ‘Vite al Limite’ accettano di passare nella clinica un anno, durante il quale vengono sottoposti ad un regime di dieta ferreo, attività fisica e sedute psicoterapeutiche. L’obiettivo è quello di dimagrire il tanto che basta da potersi sottoporre ad un’operazione di bendaggio gastrico e poter finalmente tornare ad una condizione fisica salutare.

La protagonista della puntata di questa sera è Melissa Morris, una donna che era arrivata a pesare 272 chili. Il pubblico americano si è appassionato alla sua storia poiché la donna ha raccontato di mangiare per sopperire a frustrazione e dolore causati da un rapporto problematico con il marito. I medici le hanno detto che era giunta al limite e che non solo rischiava la vita, ma anche che le sue problematiche fisiche le lasciavano solo il 2% di possibilità di avere figli.

Decisa a cambiare vita per il bene suo e della sua famiglia, Melissa si è messa sotto ed è riuscita a perdere il peso necessario a sottoporsi all’operazione. Oggi la donna pesa solamente 68 chili ed è felice della sua nuova vita. Dopo aver lasciato il programma è diventata madre di due splendidi figli e come lavoro fa la mental coach, per aiutare chi come lei non si piaceva abbastanza da curare la propria salute a cambiare vita e pensare al futuro.
